Changes in Emden Parish

07.07.2024

In the period 1 - 6.07.2024, in the Romanian Orthodox Chapel in Emden, beautification works took place.

Thus, with the goodwill of a few souls loving beauty and tradition, with the careful supervision of Father Vlad, a Iconostasis in the Romanian place of worship in Emden, which can be found at Emsmauerstraße 3, 26721 Emden.

The first service in the "new" location brought joy to people's faces and souls, this modification bringing even more meaning to the location and reminding of the ancient Romanian people.

In the future, we will take care of the Altar and the Iconostas. Also, other changes are coming in the entire surface of the church.

We offer warm thanks to those who took care that this work was carried out!

We offer prayers to God that their names will be eternally mentioned in the Kingdom of Heaven!

Indeed, now we can say: The Church in Buncăr!

Glory to God, for everything!

Share it!

We all celebrated Sunday, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, according to ancient customs:

We cooked in the choicest apartments and directed our steps to the Lord.

We have brought honor to the popular village, but also to the Romanian Tricolor.

We prayed for our children at the end of the school year.

I read the prayers of the Kneeling Departure, to receive the help and protection of the Holy Spirit.

At the end, I blessed and sprinkled with holy water the cars of all those who wanted it, thus preparing them for the journeys to be made this summer, so that all those who will travel with them will return safely from the roads their.

The day ended with those of us who remained cooling off with an ice cream from our Parish.

Thank God for everything!

My story, my object in the museum

17.06.2024

Concept Paper Collection: History of Migration

My story - My object in the museum: History of migration in OLME

During the Intercultural Weeks 2024 and beyond, the Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum Emden collects objects that tell the stories of migration from Emden and East Frisia. Under the motto "My story - my object in the museum", people who themselves or whose ancestors fled or emigrated to Germany are invited to lend or donate special objects to the museum. At the same time, the museum wants to record the stories behind the objects and prepare them for posterity. The aim is to add migration history to the OLME collection. From September to December 2024, a selection of donated and loaned objects will be displayed in a showcase.

Germany is a country of diverse immigration. Since the post-war period, our society has become more culturally diverse and colorful. The stories of guest workers, migration and flight are closely related to contemporary German history. Unilateral collecting has led to imbalances in the collections of city and regional museums, such as the Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum Emden. These imbalances must be compensated by collection calls. The collection should be oriented towards the diversity of the society.

In total, on four dates (June 21, August 9, August 16, August 23 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.), a member of the museum staff will be on site at the Kulturbunker Emden (Geibelstraße 30A) for present the project and answer questions. Anyone wishing to donate one or more objects to the museum (either as a loan or donation) can find out more information on site. Interested persons and institutions can contact the museum directly (contact: lena.leinich@emden.de, 04921 87 2078). A joint meeting is then arranged at the museum, where the objects are handed over and a biographical interview is carried out. A presentation of the museum will also take place during the meeting. Interpreters (translators) from the Kulturbunker may be present at this meeting upon request.

Those interested in taking part in this beautiful activity, set up by the city of Emden together with the Regional Museum, can contact Mrs. Leinich directly (contact details are above), or Father Vlad.

The Romanian community in the area represents the fourth minority. That is why the stories of the Romanians should be known!

New products at Pangarul Parish

03.06.2024

Beloved believers,

I have become aware of the need to update the Pangaru (Religious Products Store), which is now much enriched.

Among the most important, we can mention the cleanest Romanian wine on the market. Being from the vineyards of the Romanian Patriarchate, it can only be found in Romanian places of worship. Produced under careful supervision and keeping in mind to be as clean as possible, they stand out for their beautiful and clear tastes, competing at the highest level.

We recommend trying Wormwood, being produced according to an old monastery recipe, at that time appearing as a cure.

We are waiting for you to visit us!

communique

1/2024 of 28.05.2024

Beloved believers,

I dare to come before you with the request to be with us in all the activity, actions and projects of the parish.

The parish is that area served by a church, its area of activity. The parish means the community, but especially the community of the people in that territory served. The parish is the people. The parish consists of each of you.

The Church is One, Holy and Holy! But it doesn't say anywhere that it belongs to a single person, or to specific groups. The church belongs to everyone. And every Church in an area belongs to everyone in the area it serves.

I would like to ask you to continue to be with us, the Parish, the Church and me. We have a lot to do, we have many plans, but we cannot do it alone. I need the Church, and the Church needs the Parish so that we can accomplish great and beautiful things.

After 3 years of growth (experience) we can start building. Let's build a future for us, but especially for those who will follow. A future in which, in difficult times, they have a place of retreat, defense, reassurance and peace. A place where he can find or rediscover God, a place where he can find or rediscover his past.

Each of the Christians can support his community by supporting the church, thereby preserving the traditions and customs of the nation. There is no need for great support from everyone, but everyone can help according to their ability and desire. However, we also know from the tradition of our nation that, "where there are two, strength grows". So if everyone helps a little bit, but the number is big, the things we can do will be wonderful. The method of support is simple and accessible to everyone!

Those who wish to join, through support, the activities and projects of Emden Parish, please write to me or contact me, receiving the necessary details immediately!

I entrust you with all my good wishes for you all,

parish priest Vlad-Cătălin Lia

Kits for the Holy Sacrament of Baptism

Starting from 15.05.2024, you will be able to purchase everything necessary for the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, from our church.

The complete set for Baptism can be found at Pangar, or you can contact the manufacturer directly - PAPION workshop -, you can get the contact details from Pangar, or from father Vlad.

The baptism sets (Kits) that you will find in our church strictly follow the church order, avoiding the mistakes that almost all(99%) the creators and producers of christening sets do them, those of cramming and caricaturing all the elements that are part of that set (kit). Any documents that are not related to the Sacrament of Baptism itself, or at least to the church, will be guaranteed to be avoided. Also, any association or resemblance to some characters from cartoons or children's stories, will not be found on them.

At the same time, all those who will purchase any kind of articles from our church, will actively contribute to its activity and development, thus guaranteeing its existence over the centuries!

The Resurrection of the Lord, in pictures

Update:

Beloved believers,

Precisely because we see, with each passing year, the fact that we deviate more and more from such beautiful Romanian traditions, the duty of the church is to always remind, and try as much as it can, of the fact that the Feast of Holy Easter is about the Savior, and not about bunnies that lay eggs!

The Feast of Easter (Holy Resurrection) is about humility, repentance, forgiveness, kindness, etc.

The Holy Resurrection is not about eating a lot and drinking in moderation, but about restraint, abstinence, moderation.

The Holy Light is not about the candle, but about letting ourselves be led, literally, by our Lord and God himself, Jesus Christ!

All this, we have the duty to preserve and pass on to the next generations, having this mandatory responsibility!

Through the activities carried out within the Romanian churches, we try to "keep the flame of faith burning". Our church does not compromise in this purpose either, trying through its capabilities to preserve and perpetuate Romanian traditions.

The activity of the Parish Workshop - My Garden of Prayer - is precisely intended to correct what the wrong society teaches.

We remind you of the true meaning and symbolism of the Lord's Resurrection. By creating "Prayer Gardens" on Palm Sunday (the Lord's Entry into Jerusalem), we remember - symbolically - the journey of the Dome of Jesus to the Crucifixion, the Garden of Gethsemane representing a very important moment in God's work of saving the world.

We are waiting for you to accompany the Savior on His way to Golgotha, to welcome the Savior at the entrance to Jerusalem, as befits, by participating in the Holy Liturgy, followed by the blessing of the willow branches - symbolic that keeps the Feast of Flowers in the hearts ours, then, through the activity of the Parish Workshop, let us accompany the Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane, where we try to pray together with Him.

With joy,

Parish priest Vlad-Cătălin Lia

The beginning of the Nativity Fast

Beloved believers,

November 15 is a well-known date in the Christian culture of the Romanian people, as the day of the beginning of the Nativity Fast.

We are approaching, therefore, with small but sure steps, the great and wonderful celebration of the Birth of the Holy Child.

But let's get ready for this wonderful meeting with the divine Child. I propose that together we bring thanks and glory to God through a small sacrifice. In order to show God that we are grateful for all that we have in our lives, it would be nice and pleasing to Him if we all start fasting, as a true community, and above all, confess (confess our sins) and we share (to meet Christ physically).

I urge you to come to the confessional, especially now, at the beginning of Lent, and especially all of you who have children (either your own or spiritual - fine ones), in order to be a worthy example for them to follow. Then, share together, bringing great joy to the Lord, but especially to you. Realize that the parents' duty is also to take care of the souls of their sons/daughters (physically/spiritually), not just physically.

With joy, for the Nativity of the Lord,

The Estates (winter holidays) are approaching

Beloved believers,

Dear parents,

Here we are, again this year around the Winter Holidays.

We know that with these we will also enjoy the arrival of the two Grandfathers so dear to everyone. We also know that, even this year, he must not be absent from our parish.

Thus, we will prepare gifts for the "little ones", which they will receive at the Holy Church, just like in previous years.

If you would like to support us in this annual endeavor, thank you in advance!

There are 3 ways to support, by leaving the help in the donation box in the church, in the parish account, or even directly to the parent.

with thanks,

Parish Committee

Winter Estates 2023

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the Orthodox Church commemorates those who have passed on to the eternal ones.

This Saturday is popularly known as "Winter estates".

The commemoration of those who fell asleep in Emden Parish:

- February 17, 2023, 7:30 p.m. - Norderney Church

- February 19, 2023, 11:30 a.m. - Emden Chapel

There is the commemoration of the dead, because the Church does not see death as the end of human existence. The Church calls those who have passed on to the afterlife "asleep", a term that has the meaning of a state from which you can wake up. It does not speak of passing into a state of non-existence, but of passing from one mode of existence to another mode of existence. The savior, when he arrives at the house of Jairus, whose only 12-year-old daughter had died, says: "Do not cry; he is not dead, but sleeping" (Luke: 8,52).

Winter estates

On the Saturday before Shrove Sunday, we commemorate the dead, because on the following Sunday the Church has arranged for the commemoration ofFearful Judgmentand the Second Coming of the Lord at which we will all appear. Because many Christians died unexpectedly and without the necessary preparation or repentance, the Church intercedes for all of them, so that they can enjoy eternal happiness.

Simion Florea Marian mentioned in the work "Trilogy of Life", "that throughout the year, in the Romanian space there are 20 days of Mosi". The word "grandparents" comes from "ancestors", and refers to the people passed on to the eternal ones. With the appellative "mosi" are called not only the dead, but also the main holidays dedicated to them, as well as the memorials made for them.

From the days of Mosi we remember:

- "Spring Estates" (by Macinici),

- "Summer Estates" (Saturday before Pentecost),

- "Autumn Estates" (on the first Saturday of November),

- "Winter Estates" (Saturday before Meatball Sunday).

Saturday, day of commemoration of those who fell asleep

The Holy Fathers ordered that Saturday be the commemoration of those who fell asleep, because it is the day when Christ stayed with his body in the grave and his soul in hell, to free the sleeping righteous. On the other hand, Saturday is open to Sunday, the day of resurrection with the body. Sunday is also called the eighth day, because it is the day of the beginning without end, it will not be followed by other days, it will be eternal.

Common prayer for Turkey and Syria

On February 16, at the initiative of the City of Emden, a beautiful event took place in our community.

Small, big, white, less white, skinny, fat, tall or short, Turkish or Syrian, Christian or non-Christian, we gathered in the central square of Emden to bring a thought of embrace to those who are times of hard trial, but also a thought for forgiveness and salvation of those who lost their lives in the terrible event that happened a week ago.

God bless them all!

"You don't know what you missed today!"

Although the year has begun, and we are already after the Baptism of the Lord, a few small members of the Parish surprised us, bringing an old Romanian tradition into our midst. Capra, an old Romanian game, a tradition grounded in our culture, has found its place in the middle of our community.

Thanks to everyone involved, big and small!

Thank you for having the courage and strength to preserve our ancestral traditions!
